4. Device description

4.1 Working principle

The Big Magic ventilation unit provides continuous air exchange in the building, delivering fresh, clean air indoors. The heat recovery process takes place in the heat exchanger, where incoming air absorbs some of the heat and moisture from the exhaust air, which is removed from rooms with higher humidity and dirt concentrations, such as kitchens, bathrooms and toilets.

The fresh air flowing into living rooms such as living rooms, children's rooms and study rooms is not only thermally optimised but also undergoes filtration to remove dust particles and dirt. Exhaust air is also filtered to prevent dust from settling on the fan blades and to prolong the life of the equipment.

Thanks to the separated air currents, there is no mixing of exhaust and supply air, thus ensuring maximum hygienic ventilation quality.

The Big Magic unit is equipped with electronic bypass, which in summer allows for efficient cooling of the living space, especially during nighttime hours.

4.2 Unit points

The construction of the Big Magic is made of monolithic expanded polypropylene (EPP), which acts as thermal and noise insulation and eliminates the formation of thermal bridges.

The inlet and outlet flanges (⌀ 160 mm) are located at the top of the unit.

4.3 LED light

The front of the Big Magic unit has a coloured LED backlight to indicate its current status.

ColourMeaning of

4.4 Enthalpy exchanger

The Big Magic ventilation unit is equipped with an enthalpic counter-current exchanger that not only transfers heat from the exhaust air to the supply air, but also allows the transfer of moisture.

This system helps to maintain an optimum humidity level indoors, contributing to a comfortable indoor environment. Thanks to this process, excessive drying of the air is prevented in winter, while in summer the transfer of moisture reduces the feeling of stuffiness in the living space.

4.5 Fans

The Big Magic ventilation unit is equipped with two energy-saving fans that provide efficient and smooth ventilation. These fans are equipped with integrated electronics that allow automatic power control and maintain a constant airflow regardless of changes in system pressure conditions.

Thanks to this technology, the unit optimises energy consumption, reduces noise and ensures stable and efficient operation at all times.

5. Filters and filter change

5.1 Filter parameters

The Big Magic ventilation unit is equipped with class F7 / ePM1 60 % filters located on both the supply and extract air. These filters trap dust particles and other impurities, ensuring cleanliness and air quality.

The need to change filters is automatically indicated. The recommended replacement interval depends on the air quality at the installation site and ranges from 2 to 6 months.

Possibility to extend filtration

For better protection against odours and impurities, the basic filtration can be supplemented with an optional carbon filter, which is inserted directly into the unit under the supply air filter.

5.2 Indication of the need to change filters

The unit alerts the user to the need to change filters in the following ways:

  • Coloured LED light on the front of the unit (yellow - see LED signalling table).
  • Displaying notifications on the wall A1MCP control panels.

As soon as the filter change signal appears, replace the filters immediately, within a maximum of 30 days, otherwise the product warranty will be void, see warranty conditions.

5.3 Changing filters

    • Make sure that the filter is oriented correctly according to the arrows showing the direction of air flow.
  5. Switch on the unit by pressing the On/Off button again.
  6. The unit automatically detects filter changes and can be used again.

⚠ Use only original filters supplied by the manufacturer. Do not add any custom pre-filters as they may adversely affect the performance of the unit.

5.4 Importance of regular filter changes

If the filters are not changed regularly, they can become clogged, which has a negative impact on the entire system. The main problems include:

    • Increased pressure drop - Difficult air flow through clogged filters.
    • Reduced ventilation efficiency - limited fresh air supply to the interior.
    • Dust deposits on fan blades - which can change their characteristics, increase noise levels and reduce service life.
    • Significantly higher power consumption - the fans must operate at higher power to overcome the resistance of the clogged filters.
    • System imbalance - Incorrect airflow control can lead to unstable operation of the unit.

In extreme cases, comfortable ventilation may be disturbed or the unit may be irreversibly damaged!

    6. Operating modes

    6.1 Automatic mode - Auto

Automatic mode is the default operating mode of the Big Magic unit, in which the system dynamically adjusts ventilation performance based on data from the connected CO₂ sensors.

    How does Auto mode work?

    • CO₂ sensors constantly monitor the indoor air quality.
    • The unit automatically increases or decreases fan power according to the measured values, optimising ventilation and minimising energy consumption.
    • In this mode, the system remains active until it is switched to Constant Power mode.

    CO₂ sensor configuration options

    • Up to 8 CO₂ sensors can be installed in the living space.
    • The installation partner can set which sensors will be used for ventilation control, allowing the system to be tailored to the specific conditions of the home.

The automatic mode can be controlled using A1MCP control panels or by using the app.

    6.2 Constant power

In the Constant Power mode, the user continuously adjusts the desired ventilation power.

    • The set value is not a fixed degree, but corresponds to the actual air output of the unit.
    • The minimum and maximum power range is based on the unit's settings at commissioning.

Constant power mode can be controlled via A1MCP control panels or by using the app.

    6.3 Stand-by mode

In Stand-by mode, the Big Magic ventilation unit is in stand-by mode, but no air exchange is taking place. Nevertheless, all connected sensors are still active and their data is continuously evaluated.

    7. Functions

    7.1 Boost

The Boost function allows for short-term intensive ventilation when the Big Magic unit temporarily switches to the highest available fan power. This function is useful for example after showering, cooking or to quickly remove odours from the interior.

    Boost mode features

    • It works in all operating modes and can be activated at any time.
    • The fans operate at the maximum power that was preset when the unit was commissioned.
    • After the set time has elapsed, the unit automatically returns to the previous mode.

    Ways to activate Boost

    1. At A1MCP control panels.
    2. Using the app.
    3. Button connected to the unit - two preset options:
      • A short press activates Boost for a shorter period of time.
      • A long press (min. 3 seconds) activates Boost for a longer period of time.

The Boost length can be individually set when installing the unit. These values can be changed by the installation partner according to user requirements.

    7.2 Summer bypass / overpressure

The Big Magic ventilation unit uses an electronic bypass to cool the interior at night during summer nights.

When it is activated, the exhaust fan stops and only the supply fan operates, creating an overpressure. This overpressure allows air to escape naturally through open windows or vents without using the heat exchanger. This prevents unwanted heating of the cooler outside air by the warm air being exhausted.

⚠ When activating this function, the windows must be open at least in the micro-ventilation position.

The function can be switched on or off at A1MCP control panels or by using the app. The length can be individually set when installing the unit. These values can be changed by the installation partner according to user requirements.

    7.3 Circulation

The Big Magic ventilation unit can ensure air circulation inside the ventilated building.

The unit adjusts the air flow inside the unit using a cylinder valve so that no fresh outside air is drawn in. The extracted air is driven by the fan back into the supply ducts. It is used in case of temporarily increased outdoor pollution. The cooling or heating function is maintained.

The function can be switched on or off at A1MCP control panels or by using the app. The length can be individually set when installing the unit. These values can be changed by the installation partner according to user requirements.
