The principle of our enthalpy exchanger is based on the now freely available patent no. EP 1 485 657. The basis is a sufficiently large plate core with enormous thermal efficiency. To achieve humidity recovery, we take advantage of the fact that in a plate core, condensate accumulates in exactly one half of the layers.
For the plate core, we have developed a mechanism that can reverse the direction of flow in each layer in an instant. When the air flow reverses, the previously condensed clean water evaporates into fresh air. Meanwhile, condensate is formed in the opposite layers. The reversal of air flow is achieved without measurable contamination of the fresh air by waste air.

Enthalpy or active humidification?
You may wonder if instead of recovering humidity, it would be better to actively humidify the air.
But there is a catch to humidifying the air.
Firstly, the cost. Both the purchase of the humidifier and the water consumption are significant items in the budget.
Secondly, hygiene. Air ducts are always designed to be free from moisture. If a humidifier is added to the supply air, it is a component that is permanently humid and permanently in a warm environment (room temperature). Keeping such a component hygienic is difficult and the suppliers of these humidifiers themselves require regular replacement of the internal humidifier cartridges.
The enthalpy exchanger is not almighty. It recovers humidity to the extent that it is generated in the home. An enthalpy exchanger is the basis for comfortable living, infinitely more pleasant than ventilation with a standard exchanger.
